Information for EUYO musicians about the EUYO Ferrara Chamber Academy

Week 1: Travel out 15 September, rehearsals 16 - 22, Concert 22 September, Return 23 September

EUYO Instruments required: 11 violins, 4 violas, 2 cellos, 1 double bass
COE guest directing players – Mats Zetterqvist (violin) and Richard Lester (cello)


Week 2: Travel out 22 September, rehearsals 23-26, Concert 27 September, Return 28 September

Ravel Introduction and Allegro
Rossini String Sonata No 4 in Bb
Schubert Octet

EUYO Instruments required:  

violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, bassoon, horn, harp (exact numbers depending on instrumentation of COE guest player directors)

4 guest players from the COE  



All current EUYO members will be able to apply to perform in the Academy if their instrument is a part of the repertoire list above, and they are available for the relevant Academy rehearsal and concert period. All Current EUYO members for the relevant instrumentation will therefore receive an invitation to apply during July 2018. Players will be able to apply for week 1 and/or week 2, but depending on player availability may only be chosen for one of the two weeks.

Successful applicants will be informed during August. Successful applicants will receive travel costs, accommodation, food and/or per diems, and teaching/mentoring from COE player directors, who will perform with them in the concerts. In addition, EUYO players may have sessions in which to teach and mentor the young Italian players during their stay in Ferrara.



Some EUYO players may also be invited to teach young Italian musicians who will be performing in pre concert events with the following repertoire:

Week 1:
Borodin string quartet No. 2 in D major
Tchaikovsky string sextet Souvenir de Florence 2nd movement.

Week 2:
Rossini string sonata No. 1 in G major
Ibert trio for violin, harp and cello
Schubert wind octet D72 in F major
