Announcing the opening of new residency in Ferrara

The EUYO is excited to announce that on Friday 30th March 2018 the Orchestra will perform its first concert as part of the new spring and autumn residency at the Teatro Abbado in Ferrara, Italy. The concert will mark the official opening of a three year residency project following the Orchestra's recent announcement of it establishing a legal and operational seat in Ferrara and Rome, and a new broadcast partnership with RAI, alongside its current Italian work in Bolzano, after accepting an offer from Dario Franceschini, Italian Minister of Culture, and the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism. These relationships complement the Orchestra's recent announcement of its expanded activities and role at the Grafenegg Festival and Campus Grafenegg.

The EUYO will be hosted in Ferrara for two residencies each year, with formal and informal symphonic and chamber performances throughout the year. The residency will become the core of the concert season Ferrara Musicawhich honours the spiritual legacy of Claudio Abbado through the celebration of musical education, performance and learning.

The EUYO will be joined by the Orchestra's Chief Conductor Vasily Petrenko to commence the first residency in Ferrara, with rehearsals taking place at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara and in various city halls and spaces offered by the Conservatorio G. Frescobaldi of Ferrara. The Conservatorio and many other musical associations around the city will take part in the EUYO’s projects during the residency.

The opening concert will take place on Friday 30th March at the Teatro Comunale at 20.30.
