Theodor Andreescu

Theodor was born in Tulcea on the 11th of September 1994.

Graduate of the “George Georgescu” High-School of Arts and violin student of the National University of Music in Bucharest in his 4th year of Bachelor’s Degree, Theodor is a member of the European Union Youth (EUYO), as well as a member of the National Radio Orchestra of Romania and of the Romanian Youth Orchestra. He has also been collaborating with the Romanian Royal Camerata and with the Aalborg Symphoniorkest of Denmark.

While as a violinist, he began to study the viola on his own since his 1st year of Bachelor, and working later on with Maestros such as Marius Ungureanu, Sophia Reuter, Liviu Prunaru , Razvan Popovici, Roger Benedict, Dr. Peter Stark and Ken Haiki, approaching musical styles such as Baroque, Classical, Contemporary, and also promoting young Romanian composers. He has been invited to audition for the Academy of the Berliner Philharmonic in Germany. Theodor has also been accepted in the preparatory program of the Yehudi Menuhin Academy in Switzerland.

He took part in festivals and masterclasses such as SoNoRo, RaDiRo, Young Euro Classic (Germany), Robecco Summer Night (the Netherlands), Graffeneg (Austria), Bolzano Festival (Italy), Edinburgh International Festival (UK), Stresa Festival (Italy), Ravello Festival (Italy), Chopin and his Europe (Poland), Festival Ljubljana (Slovenia) and has also played with the National Youth Orchestra of Moldova, Princess Margaret of Romania’s Orchestra, MOYSA-Megaro Youth Symphony Orchestra of Greece, with reknown soloists such as Angela Gheorghiu, Liviu Prunaru, Alexandru Tomescu, Andrei Ionita.

Theodor has played under the baton of famous Romanian conductors, like Cristian Mandeal, Cristian Macelaru, Gabriel Bebeselea, Tiberiu Soare, and also conductors from abroad like Gianandrea Noseda, Vasily Petrenko, Leo Hussain, Bernard Haitink.
