María de las Mercedes Guzmán García
Mercedes began her oboe studies in Toledo when she was 8 years old with Professor Vicente Morant.
She has performed as part of the Orquesta de Radio Televisión Española and in 2015 she was awarded Principal English Horn in Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and co-soloist in Real Filharmonia de Galicia in 2017. She has been a member of the EUYO since 2015 and is currently studying a Masters Degree at Robert Schumann Musik Hochschule in Düsseldorf with Profesor Kai Frömbgen. In 2014 she received the award of Best Student Oboist, given by Queen Sofia of Spain. She was taught by Hansjörg Schellenberger and Victor Anchel and she completed the Scholarship of Escuela Superior De Música Reina Sofía from 2012 until 2016, during which years she also played in Freixenet Symphny Orchestra with maestro Zubith Metha, Cameratta E.ON with Gordan Nikolik and Sinfonietta ESMRS with maestro Peter Eötvos.
Mercedes has also played in Orchestral and Chamber recitals with the International Festival and Academy of Santander in 2014 and 2015. She won 3rd prize in 2015 Chamber Music JORCAM competition and was finalist in YSO/Youtube Symphony Orchestra competition in 2011 and in 2010 Alzira Chamber Music competition. Mercedes has also been a member of NJO, JONDE and JORCAM during her Bachelor’s Degree, where she studied with Profesor Catedrático Juan Carlos Báguena in Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, graduating with Sobresaliente classification.
