Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE

Chi-chi enjoys an international life as double bass principal, chamber and solo musician.  She is Professor of double bass HIP at Royal Academy of Music.

Born in London of Nigerian/Irish heritage, Chi-chi founded Chineke! who’s mission is  “championing change and celebrating diversity in classical music”.

Chi-chi broadcasts regularly for BBC radio and television.

There is a documentary about her career, ‘Tales from the Bass Line’.

She was awarded the OBE for services to Music in 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Chi-chi won Black British Business Awards Person of the Year 2016, and ABO Award 2017.
