Richard Lester

Chamber-musician, solo-cellist, orchestral principal and renowned teacher. Former member of award-winning Florestan Trio; Domus, Hausmusik and London Haydn Quartet. Former principal with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Principal cello with Chamber Orchestra of Europe since 1989. Performed concertos under Vegh, Abbado, Harnoncourt, Berglund, Chung and Norrington; appeared as director and soloist with COE, OAE, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Irish Chamber Orchestra, and Les Violons du Roy. Co-director with violinist Anthony Marwood of Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival in East Sussex. Over forty discs of solo and chamber music, winning a host of accolades. Teaches at the Guildhall School and the Royal College of Music in London.
