Iedje van Wees

Iedje (1995) was born in a musical family in the Netherlands, she started playing the cello at the age of seven.

After gratuating from highschool Iedje studied for four years with Mirel Iancovici at the conservatory of Maastricht (NL). In 2017 she finished her bachelor cum laude and with distinction. Iedje is currently having lessons with Johannes Moser at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Germany) for her Master’s degree.

Through the years Iedje developed a love for playing in Orchestra, She played as co-principal and principal in several youth orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands (NJO). At the moment Iedje is part of the academy of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (Belgium). 

Iedje followed masterclasses and got lessons from Ernst Reijseger, Marie Hallynck, Henri Demarquette, Gustav Rivinius and Istvan Varga among others.

In 2017 She won the 2nd price in the Edmont Baert Cello competition in Brussels
