Originally from Birmingham, Jacob took up the horn aged 15.
Shortly afterwards, he won places to study at all the major UK conservatories and went on to study at the Royal College of Music, initially with John Ryan then later with Jeff Bryant, Nigel Black, Tim Jones and Simon Rayner. He also performed in Masterclasses with Stefan Dohr, Jasper de Waal, Laurence Davies and Katy Wooley.
During his time at the Royal College of Music, Jacob toured with the European Union Youth Orchestra under Bernard Haitink and Vasily Petrenko, as well as winning a place on the presitigious ENO evolve scheme in which he played in rehearsals for several operas. He also played a very active role in the RCM orchestras.
Since taking up his Postgraduate Studies at the RCM, Jacob has performed with several Orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a tour to Japan with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Essa Pekka Salonen.
