Josua Petersen

Josua Petersen was born into a family of musicians in Berlin.

He started learning the piano at the age of four. In the following years he won two first prizes at "Jugend musiziert" and a first prize in the national competition of the Carl- Schro¨der-Competition, Sondershausen. He had his Orchestra Debut at the age of 14, playing Mozart Piano Concerto.

At eleven years old, he also began to take cello lessons. After two years at the music school "Bela Bartok" in Berlin-Pankow, he received three years private lessons with Monika Leskovar, the former assistant of Prof. David Geringas.

At the age of sixteen, he got accepted at the Hochschule fu¨r Musik "Hanns Eisler" as a pre-student in the class of Prof. Joseph Schwab. After graduating from school in the summer of 2011, he started his Bachelor Studies at the well known Hochschule fur Musik "Hanns Eisler", Berlin. He is currently studying with Prof. Claudio Bohórquez.

In the course of his education, Josua received important lessons from Prof. Wolfgang-Emanuel Schmidt, Prof. Eberhard Feltz, Raphael Wallfisch, Prof. Michael Sanderling, Prof. Wen-Sin Yang, Prof. Roland Kuntze (winning the 2nd Audience Award of the Lions Club), Prof. Joanthan Aner and Jakob Spahn.

Josua has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Prof. Claudio Bohórquez and Prof. Martin Spangenberg. 

In summer of 2015 he performed in the chamber music hall of the Philharmonie Berlin with a piece composed for him. 

With the Piano-Trio-Intercontinental, he reached the finale at the 7th Joseph-Joachim Chamber Music Competition 2016 in Weimar and performed as part of the excellence concert series (patron Daniel Barenboim) at the Hochschule fu¨r Musik "Hanns Eisler". 

Since summer 2017 Josua has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra – EUYO.
