The EUYO is to announce its first Café Bauhaus award winners on ‘The Future is now!’ Livestream on Europe Day, 9 May 2022, as part of a series of EUYO #EuropeDay22 events across the world
9 May, Europe Day, during the Year of European Youth, sees the launch of the EUYO’s new Café Bauhaus initiative. Inspired by the New European Bauhaus launched by European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen in 2020. The EUYO's Café Bauhaus initiative is an ambitious ongoing series of chamber music and ensemble performances created, designed and run by EUYO members and recent alumni with the EUYO’s help, in the places where the musicians live, reside and or work.
Three 2022 Café Bauhaus award winners will be announced live at 18.40 CET as part of European Cultural Foundation The future is now! Europe Day livestream event, with interviews with the three winning projects and video presentation of their work. The winning projects come from across Europe and their projects showcase the power and beauty of Europe’s young creative artists to present great work during a particularly challenging time in Europe and the world.
EUYO: La symphonie européenne
A new France 2 documentary film shown during the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2022 and the European Year of Youth, follows the EUYO’s young musicians during their Spring Tour 2022 from Ferrara, Italy to Helsinki, Finland. The narration particularly focuses on two French EUYO players, Mathilde Barillot, double bassist, and Robinson Julien-Laferrière, trombonist, but also shines a bright light on the importance Europe’s premiere young musicians attach to the values of freedom and peace in Europe at this challenging time. A must see for anyone wishing to renew their faith in the extraordinary value and importance of Europeans working, playing and living together.
The documentary is available with English subtitles here.
EUYO goes Global on Europe Day
As the European Union’s Cultural Ambassador, the EUYO doesn't usually limit itself simply to Europe on 9 May each year. As part of #EuropeDay22, the Orchestra will also be present on the social media of the German Consulate-General in New York and of the European Union Delegation to Egypt, both of whom will be showing EUYO performances. Last but by no means least, in tribute to the recent EUYO Young Europe comes to Finland residence, a new video especially created during this recent EUYO residence in Finland will also debut on the social media of the European Commission Representation in Finland. Stay tuned – we’ll share all of these events on the EUYO’s social media.
