08/03/17 - A small group of EUYO players have been invited to perform as special guests as part of the Britten-Pears April 2017 Orchestra Project at Snape Maltings in Aldeburgh.
Over a fortnight, New York-born conductor Marin Alsop leads the Britten–Pears Orchestra in two programmes: Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé, Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, and the world premiere of a new concerto featuring EUYO Alumnus and solo percussionist Colin Currie, in performances in Aldeburgh and at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
The BPO join with Marin Alsop in the making of a major new NAXOS film of Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, later performing it with Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, in the iconic Snape Maltings Concert Hall, along with pieces by Anna Clyne and John Adams.
We are delighted to be involved in this inspirational and iconic event, which marks the 50th anniversary of music at Snape Maltings.
