Ricardo Ortiz Rubio

Ricardo was born in Foios (Valencia, Spain) in 1998 and began playing the trombone when he was 7.

In 2011, he started his Professional Intermediate-level Music Grade in the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Valencia with Javier Cerveró Martínez, who's currently trombone professor of the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castellón. During those years, he was rewarded in some different national and international competitions and had the chance to play as soloist with non-professional bands and orchestras for the first time, but in recitals on his own as well.

He finished his grade in 2016 being awarded the end-of-degree Extraordinary Prize of trombone and moved to Madrid to continue his studies. Nowadays, he's studying his 4th year of bachelor degree with the professor Elies Hernandis Oltra and teacher Simeón Galduf Correa in Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, where he has already obtained several Honors Qualifications in both technical and theoretical subject areas. He's a former member of JORCAM (Madrid's Youth Orchestra) and a list member of JONDE (Spanish National Youth Orchestra) from 2017, and in early 2018 he became a member of the EUYO. Since then, he has had the chance to play in some of the greatest venues and festivals in Europe (Young Euro Classic in Konzerthaus Berlin, BBC Proms in London's Royal Albert Hall or Amsterdam Consertgebouw among many others) with conductors like Vasily Petrenko, Gianandrea Noseda, Manfred Honeck or Stephane Denève.

As he has already been a member for two whole years, he also had the opportunity to participate in completely different projects, from a collaboration with NYO (Canadian Youth Orchestra) to another with Chamber Orchestra of Europe. He's also regularly called by several ancient music groups to play alto, tenor and bass sackbut and has worked with some of the best orchestras in Madrid, like Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid (Madrid's Opera Orchestra).
