Josef Hundsbichler

Born in 1996 in Vienna.

Josef started playing the violin at the age of 6, in 2008 switching to the viola, and now he is studying at MUK Vienna with Mario Gheorghiu. Further artistic impulses he got from Avri Levitan, Axel Kircher, Gunther Teuffel and Gertrud Weinmeister.

As a member of the Hamamelis Quartet he was prize winner (+special prize) at the Fidelio-chambermusic-competition 2017 in Vienna, which was followed by concerts in Wiener Konzerthaus and Wiener Radiokulturhaus among others. Other chambermusic perfomances led him to Wiener Musikverein or Zaragoza Auditorio (during the Musethica Chambermusic Festival 2018).

Josef is a member of the european youth orchestras GMJO and EUYO.  Furthermore he has internationally performed as principal violist with the Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra (National Youth Orchestra of Austria), the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra, the MUK-Symphony-Orchestra among others.
