Born in Lisbon, Catarina Koppitz began her musical and cello studies by the age of 6 at the Nossa Senhora do Cabo Music School in Linda-a-Velha, with Professor Andre Michalczyk, finishing with a maximum grade.
Catarina finished her first Bachelor of music in Lisbon in 2016 under the guidance of professor Paulo Gaio Lima with distinction. During her musical career, she participated in Masterclasses with teachers of great relevance as Anner Bylsma, Paulo Gaio Lima, Xavier Gagnepain, Maria de Macedo, Márcio Carneiro, Johannes Moser, Amit Peled aso. Catarina has a passion for the orchestra world and is a backup cellist in the Gulbenkian orchestra and the Symphoniker Hamburg. She was recently a member in the PMF (Pacific music festival 2017), Gustav Mahler Academy (2018),European Union Youth Orchestra (2018) and the Moritzburg Festival Academy (2019), where she had the opportunity to work with great musicians and conductors.
As an orchestra member she got to play in some of the most important halls in the world like the Berliner Philharmonie, the Kitara Hall, the Grande Auditório da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, the Kozerthaus in Berlin and the Elbphilharmonie. The young artist was selected to present herself as a soloist with a Bach Suite in the festival in CCB, Lisbon. In february 2016 she won a contest in Lisbon and got to play Schumann concerto as a soloist. In may of the same year she also played solo with the OML. In February 2020 she played the Dvorak cello concerto with the Filarmonica Dinu Lipatti in Romenia.
Catarina is a scholar of the „Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now“ Verein since 2017 and had, during that same year, the honor of having been awarded the Deutschlandstipendium. Currently she is the academist of the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg and is attending her first year of Master of music in the Robert Schumann Hochschule, Düsseldorf, where she studies with professor Gregor Horsch.
