Catarina Koppitz

Born in Lisbon, Catarina Koppitz began her musical and cello studies by the age of 6 at the Nossa Senhora do Cabo Music School, with Professor Andrej Michalczyk, finishing with a maximum grade.
Catarina finished her first Bachelor of music in Lisbon in 2016 under the guidance of professor Paulo Gaio Lima with distinction.

During her musical career, she participated in Masterclasses with teachers of great relevance as Anner Bylsma, Paulo Gaio Lima, Xavier Gagnepain, Maria de
Macedo, Márcio Carneiro, Filipe Quaresma, Johannes Moser, Amit Peled aso.
Catarina has a passion for the orchestra world and the orchestral repertoire. That's why she engaged in a lot of orchestras.
She is a backup cellist in the Gulbenkian orchestra and the Hamburger Symphoniker. She was recently a member in the PMF (2017), Gustav Mahler Academy (2018/20/21), EUYO (2018/20) and the Moritzburg Festival Academy (2019),where she had the opportunity to work with great musicians and conductors. As an orchestra member she also got to play in some of the most important halls in the world like the Berliner Philharmonie, the Kitara Hall, the Kozerthaus in Berlin and the Elbphilharmonie.
The young artist was selected to present herself as a soloist with a Bach Suite in CCB, Lisbon. In february 2016 she won a contest in Lisbon and got to play Schumann concerto as a soloist. In may of the same year she also played solo with the OML.
She played the Dvorak Cello concerto in Romania in February 2020.
Catarina is a scholar of the „Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now“ Verein since 2017 and had during that same year the honor of having been awarded Deutschlandstipendium.

Currently she is attending her first year of Master of music in the Robert Schumann Hochschule, Düsseldorf, where she studies with professor Gregor Horsch and has a temporary contract as a tutti cellist in the Bielefelder Philharmoniker.
