Dámaso Escauriaza Martinez-Peñuela

Born in Pamplona in a musical family, Damaso began his percussion studies at the age of 6 years at the Music School of Music "Joaquín Maya” and at the Conservatory "Pablo Sarasate", ​​with Aurelio Zabalegui and José Ramón Alberdi.

During this period, he attended private classes with Jorge Pacheco. He has been part of the Youth Orchestra of Euskadi (EGO), Dutch National Opera Academy, he regularly collaborates with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra (Spain), Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (Belgium) and next May he will play in the Mahler Festival in Amsterdam and in Vienna with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

As a chamber musician, he performs with his percussion duo "Chops Duo” with the British percussionist Tom Pritchard , playing recitals and solo concerts in Spain, Holland and England. This season Dámaso is Academist of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and a scholarship has been granted to him by the Government of Navarra.

He will also be finishing the Bachelor at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam where he studies with professors Nick Woud, Bence Major, Mark Braafhart, Peter Prommel, Rachel Xi Zhang and Arnold Marinissen.
