Venla Lahti (2002) started playing the double bass in 2009 in The East Helsinki Music Institute.
There she studied mainly with Tarja Nyberg. In the fall of 2017, she continued her studies in Sibelius Academy Youth Department, with Lasse Lagercrantz. During her years with double bass, Venla has performed many concerts solo and with different ensembles and orchestras. For example, she was the principal bass in The Helsinki Strings 2016-2019. In 2019 she attended The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Institute of Attergau.
Right now she plays in a string chamber music ensemble and in The Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra. In 2016 Venla won the first price in middle school series in Nuorten kansallinen kontrabassokilpailu (Finnish National Youth Duble Bass Competition). Her latest degree is a C degree, which she completed in November 2018. She has taken parts in Esko Laine's, Ödön Racz's and Janne Saksala’s masterclasses.
Venla plays a Vincenzo Carcassi -Bass (1765) loaned by Sibelius-Academy.
