Emma Kroon

Emma Kroon (1994) started cello lessons when she turned 4. At the Conservatorium van Amsterdam she completed her Bachelor's degree with Maarten Mostert and her Master's degree with Dmitri Ferschtman.

Before, she studied with Monique Bartels in the young talent programs of the Royal Conservatory The Hague and Conservatorium van Amsterdam from age 8, as well as being a member of the 'Fancy Fiddlers' led by Coosje Wijzenbeek. Emma is a founding member of the Dostojevski Quartet since 2014, with whom she studies at the Netherlands String Quartet Academy.

Emma was part of the orchestra academies of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra (2017-2019) and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (2019-2020). She is a member of Pynarello and plays with a.o. Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Furthermore she was appointed as principal cellist in the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra. In 2020 Emma joined the European Youth Orchestra.

She performed at festivals such as the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam (NL), Internationaal Kamermuziekfestival Utrecht (NL), Next Generation Festival (CH), Orford Festival (CA) and Festival du Quatuors à cordes en pays de Fayence (FR). Emma received masterclasses from o.a. Richard Aaron, Anner Bijlsma, Malcolm Bilson, Leonid Gorokhov, Laurence Lesser and Jérôme Pernóo. With the 'Global Leadership program' of the Musikakademie Liechtenstein she traveled to the U.S.A. in 2016 to perform a series of chamber music concerts.

Emma received bursaries from the 'Van de Ende Foundation', 'Niemeijer fonds' and 'Arsdonandi'. She plays a cello build by J.B. Cuypers in 1810, on loan from the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation.
