Domen Koren

Domen Koren ( Ljubljana, 1995 ) is currently pursuing his Masters degree at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in the class of prof. Matjaž Drevenšek, while he was improving his skills as an exchange student also at the Sibelius Academy of Music in Helsinki with Joonatan Rautiola, at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castilla-La Mancha with Antonio Felipe Belijar and now at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón with prof. Mariano García.

Domen Koren was awarded several first prizes and "Laureats" in national and international competitions and received the »Prešeren´s award« of Academy of Music Ljubljana for an outstanding performance of Frank Martin´s Ballade with Slovenian philharmonic orchestra in Slovenian philharmonic Hall. He performed twice as a soloist with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, with the Wind orchestra of the Conservatory of music of Ljubljana, Chamber string orchestra of Academy of Music Ljubljana and with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. Domen also regularly plays at concerts organised by Jeunesses Musicales Ljubljana, Jeunesses Musicales Slovenia and Ljubljana Festival and has performed numerous concerts and recitals at important festivals and congresses in Slovenia and whole Europe. In addition of being a student active as a soloist and chamber musician, Domen regularly substitutes in many orchestras, such as the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonic orchestra of Academy of Ljubljana, SNG Opera and Ballet orchestra Ljubljana, Orchestra of Slovenian Army, Slovenian Police orchestra and the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. He also played in world renowned Youth orchestras – Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO), European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) and three times as a member of Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra (SHFO). His active cooperation with young generation of composers already resulted in premieres of several pieces dedicated to him.
