Julian Ritsch was born in 1999 in Innsbruck/Austria and received his first trumpet lessons at the age of 7. While being at school he studied at the Tyrolean State Conservatory with Andreas Lackner.
In 2019 he started his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Univ.-Prof. Johann Plank. Since 2011 Julian has had many opportunities to perform as a soloist with various local youth and chamber orchestras and brass bands. He has won many first prizes in the federal competition Prima la Musica both as a soloist and chamber musician.
Julian is a member of "R.E.T. Julian is also a member of the R.E.T. Brass Band, the Austrian Brass Consort and the Wiener Jeunesse Orchester and also plays as a substitute with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.
While Julian was still studying in Innsbruck, he also started playing the baroque trumpet under the guidance of the renowned baroque trumpet player Andreas Lackner. He has performed with well-known baroque orchestras including L’Orfeo Barockorchester, Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra, Les Cornets Noirs and at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. In May 2021 he will play with Concentus Musicus Wien at the Wiener Staatsoper.
