Annisia Iacovou
Annisia is a half Cypriot-half Romanian Violinist, born in 1999 in Nicosia, into a family where music was part of her everyday life. She began her violin lessons at the age of 8 in the program for the Development of Musical Talents of the Min. of Education and Culture, under Prof. Menelaos Menelaou and Prof. Matheos Kariolou.
From then on, Annisia became a member of the “Cyprus Young String Soloists”, an ensemble consisting of the most advanced and talented pupils of the program. Praised for their quality, they were invited to perform at numerous major events in Cyprus, and also abroad, in some of the post prestigious concert halls in Brussels, Vienna, Moscow and Rome.
Annisia’s most substantial musical achievements include her performance of Sarasate’s “Carmen Fantasy” as a soloist with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in 2015 as well as the participation in the “Muses Mediterranean Music Festival” with Ivry Gitlis and Martha Argerich in Nicosia, later that year. Additionally, in 2018 Annisia performed with the “Cyprus Young String Soloists” in Strasbourg as a part of the “European Youth Event” and in September of 2018 she participated in the project „RCO meets Europe“, playing Side-by-Side with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam in Cyprus. Moreover, in June of 2019, she won the 4th Prize in the “Roman Boianciuc Violin Competition” in Romania.
Alongside her love for music, Annisia is also very fond of drawing and painting, having won numerous Prizes in Art Competitions throughout the years, as well as participating in Art Conventions. Since October 2018 she is studying for her Bachelor’s Degree along the side of Prof. Marco Rizzi in the University of Music and Performing Arts, Mannheim.
